It really all depends on where you are running now, with regards to the air/fuel mixture. The only sure way is to change the muffler, run it for a couple of days and check the plug. There are different thoughts on how to check a plug, and you really need some experience to know what you are looking at (a rich or lean condition), running rich is easy, but running lean, which is far more dangerous to the engine, is sometimes a hard call. Since these engines come running very lean from the factory, and the new pipe will undoubtedly allow for more airflow through the engine, I would suggest at least removing the little white spacer so hottly discussed in previous posts, as well as going up one jet size to a 155 (main jet only). I just removed the spacer and change the jet this weekend, and still have my stock pipe. Man what a difference! I am probably rich right now, but I am going to change the pipe and probably rework the air cleaner as well, so I will need extra gas when I get the engine breathing more. Best of luck.
